I truly believe in the power of compassion and connection in the process of healing, and value empathy in all relationships, including our relationship with ourselves. I come from a therapeutic lens called Internal Family Systems that honors all parts of oneself and supports the growth of self-compassion in order to move forward in other relationships. My hope is to empower my clients to gain understanding of the various parts that reside within them and recognize that it is completely okay for our minds and emotions to be complex and inconsistent. That is what it means to be human. As a therapist with training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), I help individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences, anxiety, and deeply rooted emotional challenges. My approach is warm, compassionate, and client-centered, creating a safe space where healing can begin. I also have experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and substance-use/addiction treatment and recovery. Above all, my aim is to tailor sessions specifically to my clients’ needs and collaborate in order to make our time together as safe and effective as possible. I received my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Bethel Seminary as well as my bachelor’s degree in English from UCLA. I am deeply committed to addressing spiritual or faith-based concerns that clients may have and believe that cultural competence and humility are essential in my work. As an Asian American, I have been able to reflect on my cultural identity and the ways I can use my background and personal experiences in order to support and empower the larger AAPI community and those around me. My passions include working with the AAPI and BIPOC communities in an effort to provide education regarding mental health and fight the stigma associated with seeking mental health services. Throughout my childhood and more formative years, I was under the impression that talking about mental health was considered to be a sign of weakness due to the narrative that had been passed down throughout many generations in my family. However, as I got older and began my journey to become a therapist, I realized that showing emotions is actually a sign of strength and courage, and that wholeness begins with vulnerability. I recognize that the desire to belong, be heard, and feel loved is universal, and my hope is that therapy can be a safe space to honor these tenets.
